Project Vida’s FuturGen and Campus Care Announce New Collaborations with
San Elizario ISD at Press Conference
El Paso, TX – (08/26/2024) – Project Vida and San Elizario Independent School District (ISD) are excited to announce a press conference to unveil two major collaborations designed to enhance the well-being of students and families in the community. The press conference will be held on September 11, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Board Room of the District Offices located at 1050 Chicken Ranch Road, San Elizario TX 79849.
The first collaboration with Project Vida FuturGen, is supported by a $1.9 million grant awarded to Project Vida in July 2023. This initiative will implement evidence-based programs at San Elizario ISD's middle and high school campuses, including the Positive Potential program for middle school students and the Teen Outreach Program (TOP) for high school students. These programs aim to engage a total of 360 students, including after-school participants and will focus on providing medically accurate, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and age-appropriate resources to both youth and parents.
Our FutureGen initiative is focused on empowering families by equipping children, teens, parents, and youth-serving professionals with the tools and resources they need to be positive agents of change in their own lives and in the community,” said Carmen Zuniga, FuturGen Program Manager. “Through evidence-based programs, we’re supporting local school districts in improving health education, connecting young people with essential services, and fostering safer, more supportive school environments. The partnership between San Elizario ISD, community-based organizations, and Project Vida Health Center is crucial in reversing negative trends and ensuring that our youth have the foundation they need to grow, thrive, and lead healthier lives.
The second collaboration with Project Vida Campus Care is a groundbreaking initiative to reduce barriers to healthcare by providing primary care services directly on campus. This program will offer virtual primary care services inside the nurse's office, allowing students to receive treatment and diagnoses without leaving school. This collaboration is set to start this Fall, with the integration of Mental Health Services coming in the Spring of 2025.
Both collaborations are set to have a transformative impact on the San Elizario community, a rural area with limited access to services. Project Vida and San Elizario ISD are committed to empowering students and families with the resources and support they need to thrive.
