Project Vida ensures the maintenance of these properties. Locations include Northeast, West and Central El Paso.

Single-Family Properties – The Affordable Housing repairs or remodels and leases out formerly foreclosed homes at affordable rates to qualifying families only. Affordable single-family properties are available throughout the City and County of El Paso.

BACKGROUND

The Affordable Properties program was launched in 1995 with an 8-unit apartment complex in Central El Paso. It was created in response to the need for affordable housing in the Chamizal area. Publicly owned affordable housing had, and still has, long waiting lists for occupancy. Short-term solutions were needed, and still are, for long-term solutions to affordable housing.

accessing service

To receive Project Vida’s Affordable Housing services, individuals and families must qualify based on HUD’s or TDHCA’s guidelines for income and family size. Rent for Project Vida’s units are not based on sliding scale fees; it may be necessary for applicants to explore multiple options for their needs and long-term solutions. However, anyone who needs assistance with affordable housing is encouraged to call for more information. Walk-in appointments for information are welcome, but scheduling in advance is encouraged. Scheduling an appointment in advance to see available units is highly encouraged.
